My Unforgettable Taiwanese Adventure: From Rainbow Villages to Sunset Wetlands
文章目錄

Hey everyone, Mark here! Just got back from an epic trip to Taiwan, specifically Taichung, and I'm bursting to share my experiences. This vibrant city offers a blend of history, art, nature, and of course, incredible food. If you're looking for an Asian adventure that's off the beaten path, Taichung should definitely be on your radar!

Rainbow Village: A Burst of Color

My first stop was the iconic Rainbow Village. This whimsical spot is an explosion of color, every surface covered in vibrant murals. It's truly an Instagrammer's paradise! I even got to create my own prayer card and leave a blessing for fellow travelers.

Taichung Railway Station: A Blend of Old and New

From Rainbow Village, I hopped on a bus to Taichung Railway Station. The station itself is a beautiful blend of historical architecture and modern art installations. Next to the main station, the old railway station has been repurposed into charming cafes and souvenir shops, definitely worth exploring.

Miyahara Eye Clinic: A Sweet Treat for the Eyes and Palate

No trip to Taichung is complete without a visit to Miyahara Eye Clinic. This former eye clinic has been transformed into a stunning dessert shop, overflowing with pastries, chocolates, and their famous ice cream. I grabbed a scoop (or two!) of their unique flavors and topped it off with some delicious local treats. Pro-tip: check out the Fourth Credit Union nearby for savory snacks and more ice cream options.

Gaomei Wetlands: Chasing the Sunset

Next up was Gaomei Wetlands, a stunning coastal area known for its breathtaking sunsets. Even though I didn't catch the perfect sunset, strolling along the wooden boardwalk was incredibly peaceful. I grabbed some snacks from a nearby vendor and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. I can only imagine how magical it would be with a fiery sunset backdrop.

Yiqi House: A Home Away From Home

My accommodation in Taichung was Yiqi House, a cozy and welcoming hostel. I loved the self-service snack and drink bar, and the communal lounge area was perfect for relaxing. The 4-person room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities, including high-quality toiletries from Cha Tzu Tang.

ShangNiu Restaurant: A Taiwanese Hot Pot Experience

After settling in, I was ready for a quintessential Taiwanese experience: hot pot! ShangNiu Restaurant was the perfect spot to try Wen Ti Niu, or freshly slaughtered beef. This was my first time trying it, and I was blown away by the tenderness and rich flavor. Dipping the beef in the flavorful sauce and savoring the delicious broth was pure bliss.

Wu Zhai Morning Food: The Perfect Taiwanese Breakfast

No trip to Taiwan is complete without indulging in a traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Wu Zhai Morning Food, located near my hostel, became my go-to spot. Their egg pancakes and soy milk were so good that I ate there three times! The adorable hand-drawn art on the walls added to the charm.

Houli Tai'an Feather Pine Forest: A Nature Lover's Paradise

My next adventure took me to Houli Tai'an Feather Pine Forest. The weather was perfect, and the sunlight filtering through the feathery pine needles was simply breathtaking. Although it was late January and some of the trees were shedding their leaves, there were still plenty of stunning photo opportunities. The reflections in the water were especially captivating.

Zhongshe Flower Market: A Riot of Colors

My final stop was Zhongshe Flower Market, a sprawling floral paradise that exceeded my expectations. The fields of tulips were a sight to behold, and I spent hours wandering through the vibrant displays.

From Zhongshe, I took a train back to Taichung Railway Station, wrapping up my incredible Taichung adventure. This city truly has something for everyone, from art and culture to nature and delicious food. I highly recommend adding it to your Asian travel bucket list!
